Join us for a memorable wine, gourmet and cultural tour throughout the Bordeaux region to explore its magical vineyards, picturesque villages, historic cities and wine estates. Your hosts Pascale, Stephane and Eric will treat you as a member of the family will introduce you to this beautiful & world-famous region of France. You will learn to appreciate the art of winemaking during visits of wine estates and tasting and learn how the French have developed life's simple pleasures into a true art form.
Day 1 - Arrival in Bordeaux
- …Private transfer by minivan with air conditioning to your home for the week: Domaine de Quittignan Brillette(2) a charming & historic country Estate in the Médoc, where you will have time to settle down in your room and enjoy some relaxing time around the pool or in the garden. Then, you will join your hosts and Tour Guide at a welcome drink and briefing before dinner. This evening, you will enjoy a hearty three-course meal, using fresh, local ingredients and paired with regional wines and cheeses, prepared by Pascale who will serve you in her cozy dining room, a French concept called “Table d’hôte”, which will provide unique opportunity for cultural exchange with other French or foreign guests and your fellow travelers.
Day 2 - Discover Margaux & Moulis Wine Appellations
- Breakfast;
- Guided visit of The Museum of Wine and Vine Arts and Trades at Chateau Maucaillou with tasting;
- Lunch(1) to discover the deep flavors and traditions of France Southwest;
- Guided visit & wine tasting in a 1855 Margaux Classified Growth;
- In the evening, return to the Domaine de Quittignan Brillette(2), to enjoy a cooking class and to prepare the dinner for tonight: A French Chef cooks, gives ideas for traditional French meals and his secrets that will help you to impress your future guests!
- Enjoy the dinner you have concocted with wines from La Cave de Phééric(4).
Day 3 - Saint-Émilion Excursion
- After Breakfast, we drive to Saint-Émilion, renowned for producing some of the best wines in the world. This small medieval city, known since ancient times has recently been classified a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO;
- Guided visit of the amazing underground monuments of the village;
- Lunch(1) in a local restaurant followed by some free time;
- Guided visit at famous Grand Cru and its underground cellar in an old stone quarry;
- Guided visit to Les Cordeliers, in the village centre, which produces sparkling wines using the Traditional Method in the deep cellars of the 14th century Cloister;
- Return to Quittignan Brillette(2) for a table d’hôtes dinner with wines from La Cave de Phééric(4).
Day 4 - Arcachon Bay & Cap Ferret Excursion
- After Breakfast, we depart by minivan and drive to Cap Ferret peninsula to discover the pine forested coastal side of the region and its peaceful Arcachon Basin, a true inland sea known for its charming and unique oyster-farming villages;
- Enjoy a light lunch(1) in a picturesque local restaurant with a spectacular view of the Pyla Dune, the highest sand dune of Europe;
- After lunch a boat ride on the Lagoon will help you to discover the natural preserved richness that this exceptional site offers;
- Visit of the Cap Ferret Lighthouse, the famous landmark of this peninsula;
- Return to Quittignan Brillette(2) Mansion. Experience a super relaxed and enjoyable table d'hôte dinner with wines from La Cave de Phééric(4).
Day 5 - Bordeaux City Tour & Sightseeing
- Place of culture, Bordeaux, an 18th century architectural gem, has been officially included on the World Heritage list by the UNESCO in 2007.
After an early breakfast, departure by minivan to the city of Bordeaux for the whole day to enjoy a walking guided visit in the morning and free time at leisure for the rest of the day;
- Lunch on your own;
- Afternoon free time to stroll on your own, plan some visits or do some shopping in the longest shopping street of Europe;
- Dinner(1) at traditional French brasserie;
- Return to Quittignan Brillette(2).
Day 6 - Discover Graves & Pessac-Léognan Wine Appellations
- After a leisurely breakfast leave for a small yet renowned Bordeaux appellation area. Enjoy a tour and Grand Cru Classified wine tasting, where the great location and excellent premises are sure to surprise you;
- Lunch(1) in country inn “La table du Lavoir” located to the famous estate of Chateau Smith Haut-Lafitte;
- Visit and wine tasting at famous Grand Cru Classé of Pessac-Léognan;
- Visit of the Winery located in the heart of Médoc. A recent original place for discovering your œnologic profile. You are invited to discover your own tastes and the corresponding wines that suit them in an exclusive event: the Wine Sign ®;
- Return to Quittignan Brillette(2);
- Farewell dinner(1) in a local restaurant.
Day 7 - Departure day
- Enjoy the last breakfast in your new adopted "home";
- Private transfer to airport or railway station;
- End of tour.
